Hopes Berth
This village was founded by a group of freed slaves 100 years ago. Perched in a rocky cove, it subsists on a simple life of fishing and herding sheep in the small pastures found high above the village.
The villagers are distrustful of outsiders but will never turn someone in need away, the generosity imparted on them by the dwarves of Slagport has ingrained in them a sense of selflessness in that regard. Their population is relatively stables due to new influxes at random times of other freed slaves.
The village has no roads leading to and from as most villages around slagport dont, instead it relies on ship travel as the only way in and out of the village.
The village has around 100 people in it in 15-20 different families. Three of the families live partially in the hills above while one lives in and tends to the lighthouse. Most of the families fish for a living, generally owning a ship between them.
Hopes Berth has one tavern that has several spare room for let though they are rarely filled. There is a single blacksmith that also is the person that manages all of the villages outside orders via the trade ship that stops once a month. There is also a small boarding house, really nothing more than a long, low house with one room lined with beds and spartan furnishings. This house is usually closed up and only opens if newcomers show up with the intention of settling down.
The fishing fleet leaves for three days at a time and every few months will go to fish and then travel to Slagport to sell the catch, moving back out to fish and then return to Hopes Berth.
