Jorun Giantbone
Alignment: Chaotic-Good
Symbol: A ship fashioned from a Whale Skull
Domain: Tempest, Nature
Common Lore
Jorun Giantbone was slowly worn from a gigantic block of limestone, the multitudes of shelled sea creatures and the bones of sea life apparent throughout. He holds sway over the the depths of the oceans, the winding waterways of the underdark and the mystical places that stand between earth and water.
Dwarven water sages and druids often revere him, with the City of Slagport holding a mighty temple to him. Many of the "Weather Witches" that are in high demand on the ships that call the port home are followers of Jorun.
Also among his followers are most sailors, fishermen and others that make their trade from the sea. Generally seen as a sort of gentle caretaker, his teachings abhor slavery and look upon his followers to always tend to those stricken at sea for if they are not willing to save those in dire straits why should they beg him to? It is in part this ideal that has lead Slagport specifically and Greyharbor as a whole to welcome freed slaves, due to their trafficking across the wide oceans.
He is a pale dwarf that sails the oceans on a giant ship made of whale bones and has among his closest companions a pod of enormous whales. He battles with a wild beserkers abandon when challenged, using a bone harpoon upon which is carved the names of every dwarf lost to the depths of water.
It is said that he searches the depths for machines, tools and treasures created by Falhirn over the years and rewards those followers of his that seek them out.
Uncommon Lore
The Whalebone Sea is a slowly rotating whirlpool of enourmous size with huge shards of rock thrusting out of the ocean, it stands at a place where the spheres of air, water and earth loom close. He rules this place from the Driftwood Spire, an ever shifting spire of limestone that is constantly changing under the wear of water and air but never collapsing into the sea.
Various settlements lie on the thousands of islands that dot the sea, the whirlpool is slow enough that travel between the islands can be complicated and difficult but rarely as dangerous as a whirlpool would normally cause. The inner portions of the Whalebone Sea are where travel is near impossible, though that has not seemed to have stopped the beings that make their home there.
His relationship with the other gods is a distant one, his purview being one that is generally far from their own and often alien to dwarvenkind. He has several children from various sea dwelling species but they are not often noted in dwarven lore as they rarely do anything involving the first children except rarely to bring messages from their father.
Rarely known or Heard Lore
The Driftwood Spire is the very stone that the block he was carved from was quarried. He is drawn to it and over the eons has slowly withdrawn more and more from his siblings to commune with it.
The spire is in fact an spiritual ambulation of all the creatures of the sea that have ever died and has within it the vague stirrings of its own divinity. This has at times made him a strange and alien god to work with as he struggles to understand that which he was created from while also contending with losing himself to it.
He battles with the minions of Boral wherever he finds them, often allying with the Elven god of the Sea to foil the powerful gods schemes. He is often at odds with the dragon god Dakrun but has made his deals with him in the past. When the gods of the humans contended with those of the giants, he stood to the side as did the rest of the dwarven Pantheon with some few exceptions. During the war, any beings that were lost at sea he would aid or press his followers to do so.
