Medusa
Born from the shed skin of Rashashana, these snake headed folk were Rashan who had grown jealous of the gifts granted to their brethren, the Rashani and demanded a boon from their goddess to make the Rashan more like them.
For their dedication to Rashashana they were granted the power and forms they craved and the deep secrets that the goddess gathered but for their hubris they were cursed to turn all who met their gaze to stone, ensuring that only the most foolhardy or worthy would approach them for those secrets. Unable to even gaze upon themselves for fear of falling victim to their curse, they fled to the remote corners of the world to hide and reflect on their goddess and their curse.
They are beautiful creatures, partially scaled with sculpted humanoid forms. Their heads are covered in a writhing mane of snakes, usually all of a single species and has no bearing on the Medusas personality. They tend to prefer wild, remote locations and often make their homes in old ruins with a preference for holy places.
The Medusa are all still clerics of Rashashana, some more willingly than others. Some Medusa are hermit monks, contemplating their goddesses gift and their own hubris while others take their task of hoarding the secrets granted to them with a deadly seriousness and consider their entire purpose to test the worthiness of those who would seek those secrets. There are some few whose bitterness has only fermented over the centuries, turning them into scheming creatures who seek more power through the secrets they hoard either by adding to them or enacting long term plans towards unfathomable and often unspeakable goals.
