Rashan Dragons

Whenever the god Solag attempted to resurrect the dragon god Hasrai he was interruped by the final assault upon his temple complex by the Giant Gods lead by Rhorxas. As the battle raged, the resurrection somehow went wrong and instead of Hasrai rising from the dead his vast serpentine form was inhabited by a being that would become the snake goddess, Rashashana. At the moment of her awakening, Solag was struck down and the resulting explosion of energy threw her and the Giants far and wide.   It was through this act that a portion of dragon-kind recognized Rashashana as an extension of Hasrai's will, considering his vast friendships among the spheres they strongly felt that he would not consider this creature to be the abomination that the rest of dragonkind felt she was. As though recognized by Rashashana (and Hasrai as they would believe) the Rashan dragons were transformed into slender, snake like creatures who flew without the aid of wings entirely by magical means. They are noted by their smaller arms and legs and their elongated spinal fins but in all other ways they still hold onto many characteristics of their original draconic forms as created by Hasrai. This is where the schism between Hasrain and Rashan dragons began. What would become knowns as the Hasrain dragons kept their original forms and consider Rashan Dragons to be betrayers and abominations while the Rashan Dragons consider their counterparts to be slow and inconsiderate of the obvious change and growth shown by Hasrai himself. Though emotionally charged, these feelings were ultimately set aside as dragon-kind had suffered harshly during the long Shattering War. While some of the more hot-headed dragons of each faction would plot and commit acts of aggression against the other for the most part what could have become another war would become instead an argument about semantics.   Hasrain and Rashan dragons tend to avoid each other, rarely working together but also rarely coming into outright conflict. Rashan dragons are rare on Keskad while on Shona and Yrevalan they stand closer in numbers to the Hasrain. It is on the continent of Yrevelan that there stands one of the only known cases of Rashan and Hasrain dragons working together.   All types of Dragons became Rashan and as time passed enough bred that though Rashan dragons are less in number than their Hasrain cousins, the types of dragon (copper, red, moonstone, etc) are more or less equally represented among them. As there are Hasrain Dragonborn there are Rashan as well as half dragons of each variety and other dragonkin.
