Rashashana

The goddess of the Rashan, Rashani, Medusa, Naga and snakes.
She was formed at the very climax of the Great Cataclysm, having come to be during the misguided attempt by the god Solag to resurrect the dragon god Hasrai. She awoke in the body of Hasrai moments before the destruction of the First City and was flung hundreds of miles through the air to land on the shattered remnants of land that surrounded it in the area that would become known as Solags Folly.
She was discovered by a group of humans who cared for her, even as their own lives were barely being held together in the face of such destructive forces. These humans would become the first Rashani and Rashan as she shed her skin while she healed, gifting them with the shed remnants to clad themselves in. While her form was huge, the skin was only able to cover so many and those with more of her skin became the first Rashani while those with the least became the first Rashan.
She was thankful and blessed them as her first children before sliding away. When she shed her skin she also shed any resemblance to Hasrai, looking more like a snake than any form of dragon.
Rashashana explored the world, seeing the destruction wrought by her creator at the moment of her birth and feeding on the mountains of the slain that lay after the war. Gorging herself on the flesh and life force left after, she soon fell back into a slumber.
It was during this second hibernation that the faint memories of Hasrai rose to the surface and she explored them in depth, recognizing her "children" the dragons. She shed her skin again at this stage, from it came the Naga.
It was during her third great hibernation that she was pestered by the mewling of a powerful sect of Rashan priests who felt that they deserved more of her blessing, that the Rashani were undeserving. In a fit of annoyance, she granted them their wish as she shed her skin again, telling them to drape the skin over their heads like a veil. It was from this that the Medusa were born, a blessing and a curse as they gained her favor but were given abilities that made living among their own people impossible.

Rashani
The Rashani are as varied as the species of snake, or the vagaries of the humanity from which they stem. They owe their existence to the goddess Rashashana and they worship her and her various children, the degree of which and what gods take precedence depend on the particular temple.
Rashan
A human subspecies found in the Swamps of Solags Folly, the Horned Jungles as well as the continents of Yrevalan and Shona. Their skin has a dusky, coppery hue with dark hair and shorter, robust builds.
