Siege of Kessledarf
A pivotal battle during the Troll Wars where the Troll King Grund, Emperor of the Shattered Ord was baited into the city of Kessledorf only to have his army become trapped before the reinforcements from the Azure Federation arrived to encircle and destroy them to the last giant-kin.
The Baron of Kessledorf lead the defense of the city, leading one of the few successful defenses against the onslaught and helping to hold the Shattered Ord assault up for months. In private communication with Azure Federation forces, he came up with a daring and brutal plan. He would feign a defection within his ranks, opening his cities gates and letting the invading army inside. While he did hide some of the populace within the sewers beneath the city and in the keep, as a pragmatic way of selling the ruse he kept most of the population in place.
Where the Troll King Grund had expected a demoralized and disaffected force he found a city layered in defense with a Baron that was perfectly willing to sacrifice his population in brutal street fighting that would turn the city into a tarpit that he would find impossible to extricate his army from. In a desperate measure, he poured more and more of his forces from the surrounding region into the city, attempting to force the matter with the weight of his forces and their superior physiology. The reinforcing Azure Federation Army was able to encircle the city and attacked the Troll army.
This lead to incredibly brutal street fighting as the Troll attackers were cornered and fought in desperate last stands, causing incredible casualties to both the Federation Army, the Kesseldarf Forces and the civilian population before being exterminated.
Kessledarf
The largest city near the old borders of Gresseldorf, it serves as the Headquarters of the Jaglefrem Duchy Witch hunters. The town sits on an artificial hill, the remnants of past settlements from eras long past. As such its defensive walls sit below the height of most of the town, buttressed as they are by the earthen hill behind. A tunnel like entrance at the base of the walls leads up to the center of town and is the only way in or out aside from climbing or flying.
