The Veiled Continent of Keskad (Kes-cad)
The central-southern continent on the world of Heroda, Keskad is a harsh land with most of its most verdant lands concentrated on the northern and southern coasts. Much of the north-east, west and North-West are clad in a harsh mountinous coast while much of the eastern coast is a harsh land where an enormous steppe meets the ocean in a broad expanse of salt flats, marshes and treacherous tidal pools.
The southern lands are the safest, broad fertile plains dotted with forests and all bracketed by the two largest forests on the continent, the Boradessal Forest and the Clawe Forest.South of the continent from here are the south-seas, full of hundreds of islands that disappear into the eternal storm surrounding the continent.
The northern band of verdant life is far from safe, a harsh jungle known as the Horned Jungle is full of lost civilizations, ancient monsters and beasts. North of this lies a thick scattering of tropical islands that trail off into the Veil Maelstrom that surrounds the continent.
The center of the continent is dominated by the massive Veshk Desert, a harsh land it is dotted with oasis that offer some respite and a long winding river that creates a limited ribbon of fertility that offers the most consistent place to live in the desert.
To the far east lies Solags Folly, the shattered remnants of the continent where humanity first drew its breath. The land now a swampy archipelago trailing off into the roiling mass of the Veil Maelstrom.
The most defining feature of the continent however is how isolated it is from the rest of the world. Three thousand years ago with the cataclysmic death of the god Solag, an eternal storm rose to surround the continent. Called the Veil Maelstrom, no-one that has entered has ever returned and there are no records of any travelling through from the other side. This storm transcends the material plane, creating a storm of sorts in every sphere above and below and makes travel even via other spheres almost impossible (though travelling through the spheres is the most reliable route of travel to and from the continent to the rest of the world).
