Triton
The Majestic Triton are a people fallen far from the heights they held in the past. Once a unified people from the sphere of water, the Triton nations were bastions of hope and law in the often dark depths of that sphere, combating evil and taking up causes of justice. Their mighty cities were glowing complexes of beautiful crystal and coral and were considered far and away the finest bastion of civilization and learning on the sphere of water.
This was not to last, over the course of several centuries they were subject to attacks by organized armies of the more dark aspected creatures of the sphere. Sahuagin and Merrow and Kua-toa and others who were either not united or disorganized were showing up in organized warbands and even armies to contest the Tritons place on the sphere. These creatures that were attacking the Triton were all creatures whose own gods had either been devoured or enslaved by the Dark God of the Sea, Boral. The Triton were slowly forced back and eventually were driven out of the Sphere of Water entirely by by a long war of attrition with the various followers of Boral and his subjects gods peoples. For several hundred years they maintained a unified front, striking into he sphere of water and continuing the war before the will for it slowly petered out. The final death knell for it was when their own pantheon of gods where enslaved by Boral with several of them being fed to the other gods bound to him as a reward. This act drove the priests of those gods that were devoured mad in a frantic burst of psychic energy caused by the death of their gods, the rest either adjusted to their gods new ways or left their service.
With their gods shattered, the nation shattered as well. Each city slowly forming its own path. Tritons on Heroda have vastly different goals and ideas depending on what city they are from. Those that still worship their own gods tend to be more grim, as the cities are darker places and the gods are forced into domains and actions they would never have previously. Tritons that come from cities that worship other races gods or do not have a particularly religious bent tend to be gentler and outwardly happier, their cities freer places though always have a tendency towards law. Triton cities will never fight other Triton cities, though different bands or war groups may run afoul of each other this is never taken back to the cities and the Triton very much have a live and let live attitude when it comes to other Triton of differing views.
The beautiful cities of the Triton are sprawling expanses grown from coral and found on the ocean floor all over the world. They are very rare on the surface though there are several coastal settlements around Solags Fall. Triton looking for freedom have a tendency to overcorrect from their people, moving towards seafaring roles with pirates or the more grey market traders more often than not.
