The Mirage

The Golden Sea itself is vast and as such there are a lot of islands and things to see in the Aurrus Sais. However, as expected, the vast majority of the sea is exactly that, endless water as far as the eye can see. However, once you are on the sea and there is nothing surrounding you except for the waves, things can get much stranger than expected. Even the most experienced sailors sometimes will find themselves lost if they can’t guide themselves by starlight or magnetism. If a ship gets lost enough, it may end up in The Mirage.   The Mirage is the nickname given to a region of the Aurrus Sais by its frequent travelers. It exists in the section of the Golden Sea that is furthest away from any island. Its remoteness has caused too many unfortunate sailor’s to get lost and simply perish before finding any salvation. Strange magnetic anomalies and the Mirage’s location on the bright side of the sea can make it particularly difficult to navigate, so most ships who are familiar with the region will clear a wide path for it.   Some unlucky souls who find themselves in the Mirage may come across other ships. While the Mirage is full of pirates looking to prey on those accustomed to sailing its waters, more likely than not, the ship they will run into will be devoid of all passengers. These strange ghost ships will sometimes be found on the fringes of The Mirage as they make their ways into more crowded waters. While some opportunistic people will try to find anything of value still on the ship, others may be too afraid to step foot on anything coming out of this region.   The ghost ships, as eerie as they may be, are not only unexplained occurrences in the area. For every ship that is come across with its passengers missing, there are just as many that simply disappear, passengers, ship and all. No one knows what happens to these ships or how many there may be. As most experienced navigators will steer clear of these waters, only the desperate and inexperienced will travel them, so they may have simply been overtaken by the sea. However, as that doesn’t explain the ghost ships, no one knows for sure what mysterious forces are in play in The Mirage.
