The Molten Lakes

Here nothing but sand lies now, there used to be a luscious jungle, but much like everywhere else on Venus, this jungle had many inland seas. Now that the jungle has withered and the landscape has dried up, the seas are no more, but the volcanic vents that heated the bottom of these gulfs are still present and active.   Now with no water to boil or ever keep their impressive temperatures in check, some have gone dormant. However, others instead found rich veins of metals to melt. Now, instead of a refreshing body of water, a weary traveler may accidentally run into a boiling lake of gallium, tin or any number of metals.    The molten metal, surrounding heat, and fumes can be extremely dangerous, so very little life surrounds these areas, with only the truly desperate getting close.
