Akira Nishikiyama (ニシキヤマ アキラ Nish-ki-ya-ma Aki-ra)
In the world of Yakuzas, the tale of Akira Nishikiyama's transformation from a loyal and supportive individual to a cold and vengeful figure is a poignant one, filled with intricate emotions and profound internal struggles. Initially, Nishikiyama displayed unwavering loyalty and support for his close companions, such as Kiryu and Kazama. Despite being coerced by the Dojima Family to fight against Kiryu, Nishikiyama repeatedly fought alongside his sworn brother, vowing to stand by him through thick and thin. He deeply cared for Kiryu's well-being, worrying about the risks Kiryu took in his defiance against the Dojima Family. Nishikiyama firmly believed that appearances held more weight than substance in the world, a belief that likely influenced his actions and decisions.
However, a significant turning point occurred in Nishikiyama's life, leading to a profound change in his character. This transformation was fueled by a profound inferiority complex he developed towards Kiryu, a feeling that he was constantly overshadowed and deemed unfit for leadership. The Dojima Family, particularly, made it abundantly clear that Nishikiyama was viewed as useless and inadequate to lead a family, let alone become the chairman.
Furthermore, Nishikiyama felt the sting of Kazama's favoritism towards Kiryu, leading him to misunderstand the intentions of those around him. He began to perceive innocent remarks as tormenting jabs, with the exception of Matsushige, whose insults were authentic and only added to Nishikiyama's emotional turmoil.
Even in his late time in the 80s subtle hints of Nishikiyama's deep-seated inferiority complex emerged. He tearfully disparaged himself for lacking the strength to kill Kiryu, believing that such an act would spare his friend from punishment by the Tojo Clan.

During his earlier days, Akira Nishikiyama was often seen donning a remarkable outfit. This ensemble consisted of a two-button notch lapel white suit jacket paired elegantly with black slacks. To complement this striking look, he opted for a black dress shirt with the collar stylishly popped, adding an air of confidence to his appearance.
However, as he climbed higher in the Yakuza hierarchy, his attire underwent a transformation. In his later stages, Akira Nishikiyama adopted a double-breasted peaked lapel white suit and a black dress shirt, presenting a more sophisticated and formidable aura.
