The turning point in Kagemaru's life occurred when he became entangled in a fierce rivalry with a ginger cat named Shogichika. The two cats, known as the mad cats of Kamurocho, engaged in numerous battles, with one encounter nearly leading to a fight to the death. Kagemaru's fate took an unexpected turn when he was captured by a group of thugs involved in underground cat fighting. Fortunately, his salvation came in the form of Hidora Kuragari, a stoic yet compassionate Yakuza boss and chairman of the Hidora Clan. Kuragari not only rescued Kagemaru but also dismantled the underground cat fighting operation, ensuring justice for the mistreated felines. Taking in Kagemaru as the lone survivor of the cat fights, Kuragari provided him with a forever home, allowing the once formidable street cat to shed his tumultuous past and embrace a new life as a cherished and carefree housecat within the Hidora Clan.
