The Hidora ga Gotoku / Like A Hydra setting takes place in 2020 in Tokyo's Okubo district, just above Kamurocho. In May 2017, Tokyo's newly elected governor introduced the Kamurocho 3K Plan to curb yakuza influence. By 2019, yakuza groups had nearly collapsed under pressure from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Force and the Kansai Yakuza.    This crackdown spread so extensively that the of kansai and tokyo yakuza had to dissolve two months later. With the plot leading to the arrest of The chief of police of tokyo and the elected governor meeting an untimely demises at the hands of the leader of Bleach Japan, a non-profit organization founded by the governor.   From the ruins of the Tokyo yakuza, a former Tojo Clan figure emerges to form the Hidora Clan, named after a mythical creature symbolizing the yakuza's oaths and immortality. You are part of this clan, thrown into this position. Whether a veteran partaking in the war or a newcomer, your goal is to make a name for yourself and perhaps one day earn a title worthy and comparable to those such as the "Dragon of Dojima."   The 3K Plan heavily focused on Japan's arms and weapon regulations, making the punishment for possession of weapons much more severe, forcing improvisation. With help from Iyama Yoshina, a master of creating "Rai Essence Extracts," the Hidora Clan aims to gain the upper hand the ongoing street war in Tokyo, allowing its members to tap into themselves and unleash their heat.
