Following the collapse of the Ashlord Empire in 56AC, the Ashlands quickly became destabilized. The aristocracy used their military and power to continue providing for themselves, but quickly the situation began to deteriorate and the common folk was starving to death and being overworked. This started a bloody revolution between the peasant class and the aristocracy. Lasting over 100 years, the People's Revolution of the Ashlands managed to plunge the Empire into dire straits and soon people began to flee. Ashland immigrants went to many different kingdoms where they faced difficulties as many saw their displacement as their comeuppance for the alliance the Ashlords forged with the Lord Carifax. The Ashland immigrants continue to be almost nomadic, moving from one kingdom to the next without welcome, until 112, when the booming industrial age, found a need for skilled labor revolving around metalworking and magic. The Ashlords had long been people of metalworking and the knowledge was still the bedrock of their culture. Soon Ashland immigrants began pouring into Radia to work at multiple factories and earn a middle-class life for themselves. This lasted for nearly 300 years, but soon the businesses that had attracted the Ashland immigrants in the first place moved their factories out of the Allied Kingdoms, leaving the future of ahold quite uncertain.

Landmarks

OLD MACHINE RISING FACTORY

For three hundred years the Machina Rising Factory in the Ashold district provided work for hundreds, if not thousands of people. However, in 426 AC, Machina Rising decided to move their factories out of Radia driving unemployment. The factory is now abandoned, occasionally used as a place for teenagers to hang out and be teenagers or for homeless people to find shelter for a few days. Sometimes the Paladin Force clears it out as a demonstration of power.

UNTHAR HOUSING PROJECT

As Ashlords flocked to Ashold, it was difficult to find housing for everyone. This led to unsafe situations where families would go in together to buy houses that weren't up to code. Quickly, the government stepped in and the Unthar Housing Project was built in north Ashland. Over the last few decades as the jobs have dried up in the area, the housing projects have become less of a temporary housing solution and more of a permanent one. Leaving dozens of families in sub-standard long-term housing.

ZEZZLI'S PIZZA PARLOR

This hold in the wall establishment has been serving pizza about as long as Ashlords have been living in Radia - so for nearly 400 years. It is a beloved little place where people will line up around the block and wait over an hour. The options are simple, and the food is phenomenal. A staple of the Ashold neighborhood.

BURCHELLY'S BAR

Old factory pub that's been a hot spot for Ashold locals for years.

NYTEMARE ASSEMBLY PLANT

The last vestige of what Ashold used to be. While many of the factories in the neighborhood have shut down or gone out of business, the Suncrunch Assembly Plant has only continued to grow, it employs a massive portion of the Ashold neighborhood, but it's threatening to leave due to labor disputes.

BEANDWELLER MARKET

A bustling street market where merchants sell licensed goods and services. The shops rotate and change constantly, kind of never knowing what you're going to find or how they got it.

OSHTOK'S JEWELS AND GEMSTONES

Another Ashold institution, Oshtok's Jewels and Gemstones is an Ashold institution and still is frequented by both local businesses and some of the richest people in all of Radia. Some looking for a betrothal jewel, others looking for another piece for their own collection. The backroom is famous for having the rarest gemstones in the Allied Kingdoms

FIRETITE DISTILLERY

Making the finest in firebooze, the Firetite Distillery continues a long-standing tradition of Ashlord distilling and creating fine spirits.
