Glittering Road

Overview

  • Wealth: 8
  • Security: 6
  • Criminal Influence: 4
  • Magical Influence: 5
The largest shopping district in Radia. The street for which the neighborhood is named is a mile-long stretch of stores, restaurants, tourist traps, and plenty of other places designed to devour your gold. The restaurants are over-priced, waits are eternal, and the food is pedestrian. The stores are name-brand, over-priced, and kitsch at best. The streets are always over-decorated to play into whatever season it currently is. The stores are always overcrowded - clothing stores, toy stores, fire stores, record stores - and everything in between. The throngs of people are always overpowering, the crowds seem un-ending, locals loathe this neighborhood.

  Landmarks

ALLIED INTERNATIONAL BANKING HEADQUARTERS

On the very edge of Glittering Road is the massive skyscraper that is the headquarters for Allied International Banking. A massive sign wraps around their storefront, promising the lowest interest rates on loans, free savings accounts, and the best security in enchanted banking. There are two parts to the headquarters - a customer area that operates much like the rest of their banks with tellers taking money, transforming it into mundane objects, hiding it in a vault, and making a receipt (one for the bank, one for the customer). However, the tower extends upwards toward the sky, filled with offices, boardrooms, coffee stations, cafeterias, and more. Who knows what secrets are kept at the very top floor?   MARYVO HOTEL     A large hotel that is the most-frequented place to stay in Glittering Road. The beds are fine, and always available. Rooms come with different themes, from the Giant Rooms where everything is oversized to the Merfolk Room - which features swimming pools filled with sea creatures. The most sought after rooms are the cheap ones - after all, you're here to do shopping, not swim with the fish!

ROMBUN'S HOT PLATE EATERY

Feature on the fireshow Slophouses of the Allied Kingdoms, Rombun's Hot Plate Eatery is a goblin eatery that has blown up. The food is okay, but there's a LOT of it, which seems to attract people. The whole shtick is ordering the most expensive and elaborate thing on the menu - which also is big enough to feed a giant. There's a weird beach theme to the whole place, that doesn't go with anything and seems to have been a marketing ploy long-forgotten. No, people are really just here to order a dragon burger the size of a halfling.

BRIGGS ARCADE

Large video game arcade filled with the latest and greatest games, prizes, and fun. Mediocre pizza. Briggs is advertised as the place where shoppers can leave their children for hours while they go and have adult fun. However, they better leave their children with plenty of gold to spend.

TEMPLE OF LASHOON

The Old Underwall

Off the beaten path of Glittering Road. The remnants of an old crumbling wall. No one recalls what the wall was for, there's no historical marker, it's just an old part of the city. There is a series of crypts under the wall where the Penny Pincher Network hides out.

THE HOUSE OF MERCHANTS

The third branch of Radia's governing body, The House of Merchants is responsible for all commerce and corporate laws in Radia. The House of Merchants is made up of representatives from each neighborhood.
