"Almost the whole village came down with The Blue. Had'ta burn all the bedding and quarantine the sick to be certain it couldn't spread any further. Nobody would fess up to being the origin, and the council couldn't find evidence of anyone messing with the crypts, but we're all fairly sure it was Old Jeremy... he's always been the grave-robing kind"

Transmission & Vectors

Originally spread by Spores, once a humanoid is infected it can be spread by bodily contact through sweat and saliva.

Causes

Fungal spores that grow on humanoid remains, typically found in crypts and dungeons. These spores can infect a host if inhaled, ingested, or through blood contact.

Symptoms

Painful, bruise-like blue-gray sores on the skin

Excessive sweating

Difficulty urinating.

Treatment

Magic such as Cure Disease can speed recovery (subtract 6 days from the rolled time-frame), otherwise the disease will run it's course in (3D6 + 1) days.

Prognosis

First Stage: Disease contracted by exposure to infected corpses.

Second Stage: Disease, in the form of fungal spores, incubate in the host for (1D4 + 1) days with no symptoms.

Third Stage: Symptoms manifest, and the disease can now be spread through bodily contact, using body fluids as a medium.

Fourth Stage: The infected host suffers symptoms, those with weak constitution such as children or the elderly may die as a result.

Fifth Stage: Symptoms begin to clear up, disease has run it's course.

Sixth (Final) Stage: Host is immune to the infection for (2D4) days, but this time-frame may overlap with other infected hosts, causing re-infection after this time.
