Fang-Run

This gambling game is native to the Yellen Flat, and involves a race between 5 to 7 small creatures (Usually Tufted Deer or Almiraj). This game traditionally has a 5Sp buy in, but this can vary widely depending on the location of the racetrack, and the wealth of the clientele.

History

Originally a traditional gambling game from the continent of Yellen Flat, this game was later exported to most other parts of the world along trade routes, and as such is still popular in most port cities, as well as some smaller cities with room to assemble a racetrack.

Execution

Animals are placed in a dark box at one end of the track (usually a straight track, though round ones do exist), and the race begins with releasing the creatures. The first creature to run away from the loud stating area to the safety of the finish line wins.

Components and tools

5 to 7 live animals. A walled racetrack. A staring and ending location.

Participants

Many people watch and bet at a Fang-Run, as all levels of society are traditionally allowed at this type of event. Aside from viewers and gamblers, there are animal tamers who try to find the best creatures to race, as the better a specimen they can capture or breed, the better their odds of victory.

Observance

Gambling of this sort is common on Feast days, or the end of a given month. However there are places where games are run almost daily, to appease the populace or drive tourism.
