Free Market Festival
Most of the year, only those with a license from their local lord or village council are permitted to sell their goods on the streets or market squares. However on these market holidays any citizen is free to sell their crafts, crops or used tools in the street.
History
Originating as a festival of commerce within the ancient Al'Kemri empire, this holiday has changed over the centuries.
Participants
Any citizen is free to sell wares at street side carts or market stalls during this festival. This allows people to sell in areas of the city that usually only a registered merchant would normally operate. This is also an opportunity for merchants to find crafted goods made by regular citizens, and either purchase them for re-sale, or go into a limited partnership so that the merchant can sell the wares of the other citizen on their behalf year round.
Observance
Usually practiced on TriCentavio (the 8th day of Tse, the 300th day of the year), or HexCentavio (the 16th day of Eshrt'Wasabe, the 600th day of the year).
