Mystwood
"We don't enter the wood lightly... for it is the home of Fey and all manner of trickster spirits. You may pay for passage with beer, cream or even cuts of mutton on a shrine, but I would caution not entering the wood unless you must. If you do enter the forest, NEVER stray from the path. Many of us know people who entered the wood never to return." - a Citizen of Haven.
Geography
This large forest is well know for its vast expanse of evergreen coniferous trees, as well as many myths and legends of Fey folk dwelling within it's maze-like boundaries. The vast forest is not often traversed by local humanoids, as the legends of the wood tell tales of trickster spirits and ominous sights... so people tend to avoid traversing the wood unless absolutely necessary.
Fauna & Flora
The most often seen plant life would be tall evergreen trees, ringed by ferns and small fruit-bearing bushes. Mushroom rings, and tree-born fungus are also common. There are also occasional thickets of thorns and brambles, that seem to appear out of nowhere to block natural paths and slow travel through the wood.
Animal life is surprisingly sparse in the wood, but animals such as deer, birds and small creatures such as rabbits and squirrels can occasionally be seen. Legends tell of much larger and more dangerous creatures lurking in the shade of the towering firs, but no proof currently exists to substantiate these myths.
Natural Resources
While timber is plentiful, locals do not harvest lumber from the forest (unless the tree appears to have fallen naturally) for fear of angering the spirits and fey within. However locals do forage for berries, mushrooms and herbs in the forest, but only after leaving offerings of beer and cream at a nearby roadside shrine to pay for safe passage into the wood.
