Sidesword
Sometimes referred to as a Rapier, this thin bladed sword was created to be carried as a backup (or side) weapon when traveling in public places where a larger weapon would be cumbersome or out of place.
The thin blade allows for vicious stabs and cuts, while the complicated guard not only helps to protect the user's hand, but also helps to keep the weapons' center of balance near the wrist; this allows for shockingly high maneuverability and dexterity for a full length blade.
