"Only 2 records of the event remain, but both express the same basic story... One evening, just before midnight, There was a blinding flash in the sky, and all of the stars were different. Every single star chart was now wrong, as the stars above were completely different that they had been the day before... This event was never explained, but it caused centuries of confusion, as all peoples had to re-write the navigation methods that had been in place for millennia through trial and error." - 'A Conversation of the Event', by Head Astronmancer Eledi Milla, College of Astronomy at The Spire

No one really knows what caused the event... Only that it occurred. With a blinding flash of light, in the middle of the night, the stars above the world of Hijr were changed. Some speculate this was Hijr moving suddenly within the Spectral Sea, or losing its current alignment within the stellar conjunction, but regardless of the reason the change was sudden and inconvenient. Ships at sea no longer had tools to properly navigate at night, causing many lost and wrecked vessels. Caravans on the roads had to simply continue, unable to keep their bearings using the stars to guide them...   It would be nearly 250 years before the world had new, accurate, and accepted star charts. This 'reset' caused the stagnation of trade and scientific advancement for almost every nation on the Prime Material Plane.   Recorded to have occurred near midnight on 1st E'enk of Nihayat, -5950 CE.
