Chebeccan Republic

The Republic is a conglomeration of major ports within the Chebeccan Archipelago. While the representatives consist of pirates, smugglers, thieves, liars, murderers, and politicians, they have found a degree of legitimate trade is good for business. As such the treaty that any aspiring members must sign respects the sovereignty of the other islands, includes a promise of non-aggression, and one of mutual defense.

In layman's terms, joining the republic is an agreement not to shit where you eat, taking advantage in the strength of numbers. This has led to piracy moving further from the area and into the open sea, allowing nations to view the islands as a valuable stop over point, and encouraging trade and tourism.
