Ophiuchus

Ophiuchus was born in a family of powerful Shamans native to the southern tip of Secour Isle, south of Port Secours, known as the Aldini. It was in his home that he learned the native magics of the land which included powerful necromancies. When he had become a powerful enough wizard, he sought out to make a name for his tribe by becoming a scholar in the Council of Mages of Jezero and was accepted in as an apprentice.   After several decades of study he rose to the rank of Archmage of Necromancy as his studies on death began to rival that of the most learned priests. It was at this point he began pining for more knowledge, but found he lacked the funding that the mages were willing to allot him to his research - instead of wallowing and confining himself to his studies, he took a new approach and aligned himself with the local governor and played the game of politics. It was here that he had the required money to fund his wholly evil study of total undeath and found the secrets to immortality through lichdom. When his tribesmen confronted him on his ascension to lichdom, he lashed out and began to wage a war on the Aldini and on the entire island.   During The Devil War, Ophiuchus was building an army and attempting to take over Secour Isle and kill The Fellowship of the Concordant. In this bout he used one of his lich priests to kill Asmo and attempted to banish Gideon, Chosen of Bahamut. Ultimately he was unsuccessful as the powers against him were too strong. The Fellowship, while in a parallel universe, acquired an ancient writ of banishment that they then used to compel Ophiuchus into another dimension, locked there until the power of the spell wears off. While encased in this spell, Ophiuchus used his extra-planar power to contact his loyal followers and begin rebuilding his undead empire (and is the main antagonist of The Blessed Dead).
