Career
Qualifications
The only requirement to be considered a dragonkin rider is to have a rider bond with a dragonkin, but the criteria for being worthy of such a bond is different for each dragonkin.
The most obvious necessary trait is that a potential rider is of the appropriate size to ride on the dragonkin's back. Dragonkin are large-sized creatures when they reach adulthood and begin looking for a rider, so medium-sized humanoids are usually the most qualified. Sometimes, a younger dragonkin will pair themselves with a small humanoid or even a tiny fey, or an older dragonkin will grow big enough that they'd need a large giant to ride them. However, dragonkin will rarely wait too long after reaching maturity to choose a rider, and even fewer willingly stunt their growth by taking on a smaller rider at a younger age.
Dragonkin also carefully understand a potential rider's character before making a rider bond. Most dragonkin value virtuousness most of all, but some demand a partner who'd be valorous in combat.
Payment & Reimbursement
Like adventurers, dragonkin riders rely on payment from the parties they assist, but thet are generally better compensated than most adventurers because of their prestige. They are also thusly less likely to depend on a second profession since they are more likely find quests and jobs.
Other Benefits
Their flying companion allows dragonkin riders to easily travel between islands in the Sky Ocean or even make a trip to the Wilderness and back.
Perception
Social Status
While dragonkin aren't as powerful or prestigious as true dragons, they are still respected and feared by most creatures because they are a draconic race, and thus, their riders are usually subject to the same treatment. Combined with the general respect owed to adventurers, dragonkin riders are well-treated by almost all societies.
