Holocene Fortress

Ancient History

Holocene Fortress was established by the first Khan of the Dolg Catar among the ruins of eons old Green Dragon lairs. The lairs were acres of hills 100s of metres high built entirely of fallen trees and featured mazes miles in length.
The location of the fortress was selected by the Dolg Catar as the lingering power of millennia of Green Dragon habitation gave the location power, particularly in relation to crossing into and manipulating magic and other dimensions.
In the early days of the Alin arrival, the great fortresses of the Khans fell one by one to the Carkade and the Alin.
The Alin used the hidden powers of the fortress to create a permanent gate to their home worlds.
At some time after the fortress sank beneath the ancient dragon lairs at the end of the Alin-Carkade wars, the Green Dragons moved back into the ancient catacombs beneath inside a lacuna created by Tempus Viridi.

Middle History

The fortress was used by the Witch Queen Toreja as her primary anchor point during the Ascendancy ritual

Now

The current discontinuance event made the fissure to the Alin homeworlds partially accessible once more
Over the years many treausure hunters have sought out the fortress. Many have met their fate within the fortress, but enough have succeeded over the years and many rooms and treausres have been sacked. The few that are untouched proved the the death of all who approached them (e.g. Valt’s cocoon), are hidden (Beroul’s Forge), the treasures look destroyed but are repairable (shattered golems, Soul Net), seemingly valueless objects (Displacement Sarcophagus) or are out of time inside the lacuna created by Tempus Viridi (i.e. the teausres of the green dragon vizier)
The forms of shattered glass that seemlingly move through the hallways are sequestered Alin attempting to escape after 6,000 years of imprisonment
Travellers are also likely to see possible future and past selves walking the corridors, trailing behind them the light of possibility
Most recently the Warith Accord called an assembly at the fortress where Sim Arclight rose as the first Witch of Undefining
