Kunoh

Personality

Kunoh is a fairly simple guy. He looks for and thrives on instant gratification but because he is looking for his destiny, he is always looking for things to improve on. He loves to smash bad guys but he also likes to do small things (ie. learning to read) to learn and understand the world so he can make sure he's ready to see the sign of who he is destined to be.   Kunoh is determined and strongwilled, reserved and quiet. He is not quick to anger (outside of combat situations), but he has little patience for people who get in his way.   He enjoys fighting. A lot. He loves sparring and working out and exhausting himself physically. He has a lot of direction-less energy. He wants to prove his worth - it occupies his mind most of the time - but he doesn't know how.   He doesn't enjoy arguing, mind / word games, or being in "civilised" social situations. He doesn't enjoy being addled - he's not big on drinking - because it makes it harder to stay focused on the glory and the thrill of the combat. He doesn't trust most people and finds conversations with new people to mostly be confusing or frustrating because he's not good with non verbal cues.   Background

Kunoh was raised to believe that the most important thing is always the tribe, that the greater world is vast with many friends and foes to be found, and to always keep his eyes open and be cautious.   He has been on the road for several years, typically working as a mercenary or guard to make ends meet. During this time, he has met many people. He does not like many of them, and he trusts even fewer. He does not trust easily but when he does trust someone, they become like kin.   In recent years, Kunoh has become good friends with Heian, having learnt to trust him over the years, knowing his word is good and true, and trusting in his abilities as a hunting and traveling companion. When Kunoh was 14, as is the tribe's custom, he took part in a proving hunt and he bagged many wolves - he was shown how to make the wolves teeth he collected as trophies into a necklace as a sign of his prowess, and he carries this with him still today. This caused some tension with the elf when they first got to know each other, but over time, they have learnt to accept each other's differences in upbringing and outlook, and now, as a matter of respect, Kunoh ensures to be discrete with his necklace when the elf's wolf friend Onai is around   In-game Character Development

There was ... an incident. Beset by some unknown force (related to the Crag and the Treonol werewolves), Kunoh was manipulated and tricked, his inexperience and naivete taken advantage of, and overwhelmed by thoughts of proving himself to his people once and for all, he foolishly accepted a deal as a result of which he believed he would become a powerful warlord commanding a great army, with more strength, toughness and prowess in battle. It ended ... badly. Now the tentative kin-bonds he was beginning to form with his adventuring group - in particular, Maybellina, Ephut Ki and Professor Ruben - are strained, and Kunoh feels more lost than he has in a long time.

Some time has passed since the incident.

Ephut Ki has returned to his home so some of the tension and guilt Kunoh was beset by has eased, but not a lot. Kunoh is however now beginning to overcompensate by latching on to the idea of a stereotypical protector role, similar to how he already feels towards Heian, towards the smaller companions - especially Maybellina (who is helping him understand he can learn to be more than just a brute) and Ruben (who Kunoh feels makes a number of ill-considered mistakes, seeing a lot of himself in this obsessive personality type).

With regards to the other current companions, Atala and Ophion still confuse Kunoh greatly and seem to hold themselves at arm's length (which he definitely understands) and Tranquil Mind is still quite new to the party so Kunoh has not gotten to know him well enough yet to have formed an opinion.

Kunoh is still having nightmares about the incident. He would never verbalise this to his companions, but sometimes over a shared morning meal, he is sure at least some of them know it is happening.

Kunoh has embraced his recent cover role of carpet merchant with relish, feeling useful for the first time in a way that doesn't rely on smashing heads in. He is very proud of his carpets, even though he is not as convincing a merchant as he is intimidating.

Kunoh is becoming vaguely aware of the appreciative looks he gets from some people. He is confused by the attention directed towards him in particular, but contrary to what his companions believe, he is aware of it and isn't blind. He just doesn't get it and isn't particularly interested. (March 19)

Kunoh has learned his people, the Ellanher, are in fact descended from the Dolg Catar who sacrificed themselves almost entirely to save the multiverses from the Carkade-Alin alliance.
