Sarpadian Empire
- A military power that conquered and ruled a large region of the northern part of the western continent.
- Initially a small kingdom, the militaristic Sarpadians expanded over centuries bringing to heel neighbouring duchies, principalities, tribes and kingdoms underneath the banner of one unifying empire.
- Their expansion commenced some 1,500 years ago, reached a zenith some 900 - 1,200 years ago before the utter collapse of the Empire some 500 years ago.
- Ruled over by a series of Grand-Marshalls, under their iron fist rule the Sarpadians brought a “golden age” to the areas under their control. Disciplined and hardened legions, cadres of war mages and devastating cataphract formations were the backbone of the Sarpadian army.
- The Sarpadian Empire was the site of the culmination of the Great Witches War. Destructive black time magic and the breaking of near total breaking of the spaces resulted in few survivors, details of the event being wiped from contemporaneous records, divination magic being able to provide details and confusion spread among those who did survive.
- The Empire was in decline in the century prior to Great Witches War, and simply ceased to exist after the culmination of the war.
- History remembers only that the Empire collapsed "after a struggle with a deadly foe".
- The home peninsula is cursed and undead ridden after the cataclysmic downfall of the empire. It is a terrifying place filled with ruins, destructive curses and death.
