Kingdom of Faleret
The Kingdom of Lilies and Daffodils
The Kingdom of Faleret is a monarchy located in eastern Férulad. It is one of the most powerful countries in Auloa and is considered a successor state to the Palladian Empire. It was founded in 157 SE by Gaeladrias Sallerae when he reunited the Falerani and Mehilani elves under a single banner following the Wars of Unification. Today, it is noted for its rigid social hierarchy, advancements in magical theory, and emphasis on cultural and artistic developments.
Structure
An absolute monarchy with a strict racial caste system and a complex court life.
History
The Palladians built many fair cities and towns in region and exiled much of the local lightfoot halfling population to Érulad. However, the Sundering and the Age of Blood were not kind to the region, as it fell to Kerkish armies, barbarian hordes and human migrants from across the Varangian Sea. Faleret also witnessed the breaking of the elves into two distinct cultural groups—the Falerani or “high elves” and the Mehilani or “wood elves.” The Falerani retreated to their cities and holdfasts and retained much of their Palladian culture, while the Mehilani returned to the forested wilderness of the region and tapped into their ancient Fey roots. Though the two groups get along, wood elves are often seen as backward and uncivilized by the high elves and likewise the high elves of Faleret are considered to be corrupt and elitist by the wood elves. Faleret was not unlike Reikerk, with swabbling dukes and fracturing civil wars up until two hundred years ago, when Gaeladrias Sallerae rallied an army of the surviving Palladian elves and united the petulant marquises and lords under a single banner."
