Hommjuanjah
Hommjuanjah (Homma, Hom'ma, Homjah, Hom'mjul, Hombjulaijah), also popularly called "Fellgaijah" by those of morbid humor, is a world of varied species and magical anomalies. A fractured, island-based series of kingdoms called "courts" dominates the surface, with the technologically-enlightened metropoles ruled by kings sailing in the sky and and as-of-yet unknown worlds beneath the surface of the waves and earth observing from under all's feet. Through violent magical "calamities," a hazardous kind of magic and creatures of Earth have come to coexist with native Hommjun life, having lived peacefully for billions of years. Magic and high technology coexist equally, often feeding into each other. The many varieties of Engios and the Pardomag are the dominant species, but humans coexist without much issue.
The fractured world of the surface is dominated by many large seas, which house enormous leviathans deep beneath the waves. Throughout the world rings the three Affinities, Earth, Flow, and Arcane, which are the magics that most beings can harness and combine for combat, utility, or technology, and have specific weaknesses and strengths on each other. The "calamities," which are the same events that brought Earth life to Hommjuanjah, are ultrapowerful bursts of hazardous, mutagenic energy that falls under its own, seldom-used affinity of "Calamity." Calamity may be controlled through the usage of special, ancient medallions, charms, and vessel bands, or one may be born with an innate immunity and mastery of such magic. Engios are the main users of magic, but some humans and Pardomag may be born with magic capability.
Near the beginning of the world, before humans came, the memory of Old Homujeht split itself into pieces. A civil war erupted between the various kinds of Engios, leading to the creation of magical and technological superweapons to try and destroy each other. These weapons, having combined with a calamity burst, are said to have been what fractured the surface into the many islands of today, and it is said that two now-forgotten species of Engios went into hiding. The old capital of Homujeht shattered into a bunch of large, tightly-knit islands in the epicenter of a perpetual Calamity storm trapped within a raging whirlpool that empties into the center of the world. This old world, and its various banners of war are long forgotten, but that cataclysmic storm at the edge of the horizon still invites many a person to try and seek it, for secrets, wealth, or for the sake of bravery.
Who will finally remember that old regret?
