Ships of the Air
Ships of the Air are large wooden or metal vehicles that are propelled through the air via magic. They are required for inter-continental shipping of goods & people, as the oceans are nearly impossible to navigate due to the waves.
They are also used for war. The Elven Warships are known as the most powerful ships in the world, and have been winning wars for thousands of years. The Elven Navy hasn't yet to be beaten.
Pirates across the The Endless Steppe use grapplers and nets to pull other ships down and rob them. Sometimes, they steal the ships, but most often they let them continue on with no cargo, so they can steal from them again.
Power Generation
All Airships use a massive Powerstone anchored and attuned to the hull. They usually are protected by various wards to prevent external tampering.
Propulsion
The earlier Airships either generate wind behind them to push sails or they combined the wind with a permanent levitate spell. Advanced versions fly faster or are equipped with a "Flash Engine" that will allow the ship to Flash Travel vast distances.
Weapons & Armament
Any weapons that can be mounted to the ship have been known to, but most commonly they are armed with ballista or catapults. The munitions for these weapons can be explosive or nets, and sometimes they are gem-crackers, designed to take out the Powerstone that keeps the ship afloat.
Armor and defense
Magic shields and spikes are common, as are physical plates of armour designed to reflect and withstand attacks. High-end military ships are equipped with anti-magic armour, making spells and such simply fail within range.
Communication Tools & Systems
Most airships have sending stones on board, allowing for messages to be sent to any known source. Warships will also have short range jammers that will stop all communication for a short time.
Hangars & docked vessels
Some larger ships are equipped with armed skiffs to fight off pirates and lifeboats to get folks off the ship in an emergency.
