Drelock Armada

"Mayday mayday! We ... under attack by un...own for... . Require immediate ... or...by the First ..."
— Last known broadcast from a Krellian colony seconds after a Drelock attack.

Structure

"With great effort, we have been able to identify at least four unique fleets in this armada and we have an idea of what leads them..."
"And how does this protect those on the frontier?"
"...It doesn't."
— Admiral Typhin during a press conference after another Drelock attack.
The Drelock Armada is structured into four main branches, each led by a Dark Mind. Each branch is then further divided into a multitude of small fleets called the Fingers. What directs all of these forces is unknown, although there have been rumors of very brief pulses of indecipherable information directed to the Minds from time to time.

Public Agenda

"'All gone'. That was my first thought when I exited my rift into what remained of Vin Xexu. There was barely even a planet left, so when I heard the news that there were no survivors I wasn't surprised...gods why would anyone do this?"
— Captain Civol's, of the merchant vessel Night's Eye, statement on the Vin Xexu Massacre.
The agenda of the Drelock Armada is a mystery to all the galactic powers despite numerous attempts to decipher the meaning behind their devastating raids.

Assets

"If we could figure out how the Drelock Armada is capable of such instantaneous travel we could travel the galaxy in mere days instead of weeks. The possibilities are endless with such technology! Sadly, they only seem interested in using it to kill anyone they like. Such a waste of life with such a wonderful gift."
— Doctor Lodor on Drelock technology.

  • Seemingly endless forces
  • An unknown amount of outposts and shipyards
  • Unparalleled fleet deployment speed

History

"Screams, that was my first clue it was them. I hurried to the nearest evacuation station without a second thought, and somehow that ship, that one ship, slipped past them and got to safety...Did you know that my people now find screaming for any other reason taboo? You can get fined for screaming without an attack occurring. Screaming...you never forget the screaming..."
— Gelock, one of the fifty survivors of the fifth Drelock attack.
The Drelock Armada first appeared one hundred years after the discovery of the Void. Their attacks were random, but always focused on frontier colonies close to vacant sectors of space. Despite the best efforts of multiple governments, the attacks continued and have yet to cease since that time. It has now become galactic policy to avoid colonizing near vacant sectors, but the attacks persist with no sign of ever stopping.
