Vin Xexu was the first colony in Xelin and galactic history to reach so closely to the galactic core, and was viewed as a landmark in colonial expansion. Despite its frontier nature it was heavily supported by the Xelin people, with supplies and military assets being sent to it multiple times a year. This constant aid helped it prosper, and was a sign of the importance of expanding galactic powers in supporting their colonies, no matter the distance from the core systems.
The fledgling colony was a role model to other frontier settlements, who began to request more aid in their development so that they could be a strong anchor for their people in further expansions. This continued for many years, with Vin Xexu developing their own sensor arrays to help their defenses in case of raiders and other potential threats. All signs were leading to a new age in colonial expansion across the inner galactic rim. Then it all came crashing down when despite all the development, military protection, and advanced sensors the rising star of the Xelin colonial efforts was completely destroyed in less then a few hours.
It would take several more of these attacks for the inner galactic powers to realize what was going on, but it was Vin Xexu that became the hallmark of what was to come. The end of frontier expansion.
