The Pact of te Ogre - Edited
The dwarves of Saltnocrock lived for generations at the base of the mountain. The had all the comforts of living with a bountiful lake and the rare ore of the Saltnocrock mountains. Their craftsmanship of the rare metals was second to none. They heard rumors of an even rarer ore in the mountains to the south and so they took to constructing a powerful ship to get the miners to the mountain so they may mine for it.
Finally, the ship was constructed, it was one of the biggest ships Huberous has ever seen. The ship was so big that it even had its own forge. The genius construction allowed the steam engines to power the forge and the ship. The ship had a crew of 150 and could carry another 100 miners/soldiers. With the ship loaded they set out to the new land.
The dwarves landed and could see the mountains in the distance. First, they sent a scouting group to see if there were any hostiles in the area and to find a safe route to the mountain. Three days had past and there was no word from the scouts. They decided to give them another day while they made their preparations to advance inland. When the sun set the next night, they knew that there was something lurking in this land.
The next dawn the dwarves where ready for whatever they may encounter. Heading out with their fastest construction and a small army, the dwarves started moving cautiously through the lands. As night began to fall they heard something in the distance. It was a guttural roar. Shortly after they heard two more. Alas they where surrounded.
In unison the creatures let out a blood curtailing roar and begun to charge the dwarves. As their silhouettes got closer the dwarves could see massive beastly brutes, they were in fact ogres. Luckily for the dwarves they came very prepared for battle and brutally massacred these beasts. Slowly they continued towards the mountain. Battle after battle they destroyed their foe. Once on the mountain side the dwarves made their selves at home sending the construct back to the ship to inform them on what they faced getting to their destination. The construct also relayed that they would need reinforcements. The ship unloaded anyone that they could while being able to get home.
As the second group headed towards the mountain, they were ambushed by 12 ogres. There were many losses on both sides. Only 25 percent of the dwarves made it to their destination. The ogres where in constant battle with the dwarves. Months went by and the dwarves found a small vein of this rare ore. With each day more and more dwarves were lost in battle, the ogres where winning.
Just as all hope was lost for the dwarves, reinforcements arrived with a skeleton crew to run the ship. An army unloaded from the ship. Every attempt from the ogres to stop this army were in vain. Soon the dwarves began to advance on the ogres with the intent to exterminate. The queen of the ogres Zinerth started a ritual. She did not know if this would work at all but it was their only hope.
Zinerth finished the ritual with the sounds of battle nearing. Suddenly the tent went dark, then flames burst from the ground burning the tent. The dwarves cheered as they thought this was a sign of certain victory. A being stepped through the flames, his horns where massive with fire glowing in the space between. Zinerth pled with the being begging for the power to defeat her enemy’s. The being stated if I assist you must do something in return and if she fails to hold up to his end of the bargain, he would destroy all of them in the depths of hell. With the rage of hatred in her eyes she agreed to the pact. As the last syllable left her lips a burst of flame shot out from the beings horns and washed over all the ogres.
Their eyes started to burn with the flames of demons, their size enlarged and their strength increased. As the dwarves struck the demon infused ogres the blood that was produced was like lava. The ogres now had the power to eliminate all of the invading dwarves. As the last dwarf fell on the shore line the ship returned home, the ogres had won. Alas the pact was only half complete. The demon spoke to Zinerth and said that she must now eliminate all the men of her race. What was she to do, either way she has condemned her race to hell.
