Hub Region: Gaean City-States

The Hubbish Sea’s north and northwest shores are home to several city-states sharing a common culture. The Gaeans who occupy these cities and the surrounding countryside have the second-highest ratio of Goldadams to Newmans of any culture in the world. Each city is ruled by a council of long-lived Goldadam elders or an ancient king, and each boasts at least one legendary hero. The cities subsist on a variety of crops and fish, the land being too rocky for large-scale ranching. The largest city, Philemammonia, sits at the intersection of the Spinal Mountains and the Northern Crescent range, making it the only location with access to the Northern, Northeastern, and Hubbish economic regions all at once. Other than the odd dispute over fishing rights, the Gaean city-states respect one another’s independence and prefer peaceful trade to conflict. The Northern Crescent mountain range and the dense Western Wilds have so far protected the Gaeans from Martian expansionism. Most threats come in the form of monsters or pirates from the Hubbish Sea or the surrounding mountains and forests, and the occasional slave revolt. Each city is defended by walls and fortifications, and elite Homoioi warriors.   Races: Human (all), Elf (High, Grey), Halfling (all), Dwarf (Mountain), Gnome (Surface), Vanara (Bandar)   Common Tongue: Valsa   Classes: Elfin Cavalier, Homoioi, Fighter, Ranger, Bounder, Rover, Sea Shepherd, Survivalist, Mariner, Bard, Shamanic Bard, Minstrel, Merchant, Thief, Detective [Philemammonia], Pirate, Assassin, Votary, Reverend, Witch/Warlock, Oracle, Magic-User, Illusionist, Sage-Magician, Scholastic Sage, Clerk, Medic, Mechanist

Structure

Cities are ruled by either a council elected by the richest in the city or a hereditary monarch. Each city is responsible for protecting the surrounding countryside and fishery and collects a share of all crops and catch for the protection.
