Southeast Region: Free City of Dunpor
Dunpor is built up the side of a cliff and into the rock itself. From the docks at its base, a network of staircases connects the buildings of the commercial district that extends out from the cliff-face. There is no exterior route to the top. Tunnelled streets lead from the cliff face into the residential and industrial areas of the city. Tunnels lead from the interior city up to the plateau at the top of the cliff, where the royal palace is located on a large wooded and gardened estate. The Prince of Dunpor interferes little in matters of state, leaving the merchants and the judiciary to manage most affairs. Unlike its surrounding Standlandian neighbours, religion hold no influence over public policy and in fact aggressive proselytization on the part of any sect could lead to fines. Dunpor asks nothing but taxes of those who wish to live there and has attracted the most eclectic population of any city in the world.

History
The Prince of Dunpor descends from the hero who led a breakaway faction out of Rajistan that was tired of the realm's social stratification and religious pervasiveness. Once established on the high southeast plateau of Zilandria, the colony quickly attracted dissidents from the rest of Stanlandia, as well as Ajaria and Jaraia. It was engineers from Jaraia that proposed expanding the city down the side of the cliff. Dwarves native to Zilandria, but uncontacted by humans prior to the expansion of Dunpor agreed to do most of the tunnelling work in exchange for their own pier on the Dunpor docks and the right to tax any mineral wealth leaving the island.
