You're telling me that those new fangled lanterns are powered by some weird swamp creature without magic? Sounds like a bunch of quokka droppings to me!

Gorf Lanterns are the latest in lighting technology. Currently being used predominately on the streets of Harmony, gorf lanterns are considered an important part of the crown's desires to bring progress to Huggleland.
Composition and Manufacturing
Gorf lanterns begin with a large stones being carved into several heavy square bases with circular holes in the center. In the holes of the base a 10' cylinder of iron en-robed in brass is carefully placed. The brass can be adorned with designs, markings, or even signage using engraving and/or painting. At the top of the cylinders is a platform and are four arms to support a glass globe. The globe has a flat open bottom and a small opening on top. Before the glass can be placed on top, the almost finished lanterns, are transported and installed at their final location. Once in place a sleeping
Gorf Da'ot is placed on the lantern's platform and the glass is carefully placed over the top. It is important that the gorf da'ot is asleep before placing them on the lantern or they will jump off with no thought to injury.
Maintenance and Care
The lanterns themselves are structurally low maintenance. The brass may tarnish or paint may fade but outside of Harmony, no one really worries about lanterns showing their age. The gorf da'ot that light the lanterns do require some care. While they sometimes catch bugs with their tongues through the hole in their glass prisons, they are primarily kept alive by the Gorf Brigade. They not only install the lanterns in the first place, they also are responsible for overfeeding the gorfs periodically to keep them alive until the next time they can be fed. Some major cities already have brigade members to take care of their local gorf lanterns.
The Lantern Initiative
Also referred to as "Operation Light a Gorf," the lantern initiative is about spreading the use of gorf lanterns. Their objective is to replace all outdoor fire based lanterns across Huggleland within 10 years. The Gorf Brigade is responsible for caring out the initiative and has the authority to enlist new members and volunteers in order to achieve their goals. While opponents of the initiative are mostly just vocal, there are those who seek out lanterns and damage them or kill the gorfs inside. Often, these villains are hired to do the dirty work of those that oppose the lanterns but want to avoid the attention of
The Scale. The Gorf Brigade repairs damaged lanterns and often offers a reward for the capture or elimination of those that cause harm to the initiative.
Looking to the Future
There is already research on how to get gorf lanterns, or similar technology indoors. Some visitors to the castle in Harmony claim they have seen gorfs hanging from support beams within the grand halls. There are even rumors of breeding gorfs to be smaller than usual in an attempt to size them down for more practical everyday applications and larger for grander applications. The Master
Libra is expected to give a full report later this year on the matter.
The future of lighting is gorf power!
