the Ouránia project

Begun in 231, the Ouránia sought to send humans to another solar system for the first time. The project officially departed from Mercury on Jan. 2,245 and traveled through space for 115 years before arriving in the Alpha Centauri system and burrowing into an asteroid in its central belt. News of this success wouldn't reach Earth until 375, and by this time many other spacecraft had departed for interstellar space. The asteroids in the vicinity of The Humanity Star station couldn't supply sufficient material to resupply the station's fuel for a journey back to Earth, and so the station would wait in orbit of Alpha Centauri B for a further 20 years before a rescue craft arrived to take the few survivors home. When the ship (the ISS Goodfellow) arrived, the explorers who survived on the station consisted of just 58 individuals, since the population had decayed as supplies dwindled and backups failed. The Goodfellow will return to Earth with the 4th generation of Ouránia explorers in 417.
