An'han Ogh'An (An-Han Och'Han)
Overview
An'han Ogh'An or the Mind Above All was once a moon. But not some ordinary moon; no, it was one of the two moons of the Lyranian homeplanet. They figured if they had one left the tides were still there and so it was.
Scientists, workers and other wealthy people poured resources into a large - ah, who am I kidding? - gigantic project which finally ended up with An'han Ogh'An. They pulled the remains of the moon out of the orbit of their homeworld and secured the entire moon with a ten layer thick defense, not counting the already devastating moon-based artillery and Point-Defense-Cannons.
Inside & Outside
On the outside An'han Ogh'An is just a pale grey rock, scarred from the rebellions and debris, be it ships or asteroids. The Lyranians buried a solar-powered reactor deep inside the moon and only some collectors bring down the energy into the systems.
After that they started to secure the surface. Plasma- and laser-based cannons, long- and shortrange, PDCs, missile launcher and a small rapid-loader shield. Even large artillery cannons.
In addition to this they installed a ten layer thick defense around the moon. Its consists of intelligent mine fields; small robots which disassemble incoming missiles and ships; intelligent turrents based on laser and heavy plasma cannons; EMP traps and the best and heavy hitting fleet in the sector. Destroyers, carriers, two heavy cruiser and one Dreadnought protect An'han Ogh'An.
Why do they need all of this heavy ordenance? Because of what is buried beneath the very thin surface: an underground building which houses the largest supercomputer the Galactic Federation, the Council of the Stars and even John had ever seen. It is so huge and advanced, that it is basically developing itself now while being under observation of some of the brightest minds of the Lyranians.
This supercomputer is connected to all adult Lyranians, transmitted by transmitters, transponders, recievers, hyper-communication and a vast network of relay stations to be connected with every Lyranian. That doesn't mean that they are a hive-mind like the Anthraxian race, they are just never alone.
Part of the Ship, Part of the Crew
The biggest advantage of being in loop with a supercomputer which is basically a quantum-connected brain inside a huge stoneshell is that you can think, calculate, and decide in the blink of an eye. Which is... basic, right?
No, not for a Lyranian. Not unlike the Chronomancers they can think and calculate very fast, but in the opposite of a Chronomancer a Lyranian decides purely on cold numbers, chances, variables, probability. A Chronomancer decides what is best for the long run - that is the reason why they get stun-locked when calculating things - , a Lyranian what is best in the moment or the next five moments. Which causes them to think longer, to get the details right and then they act. That is the reason why they needed the Mind Above All.
Tales of the Moon
"We shouldn't be here."
"That is our mission, Corporal."
"Yes, Sir, I know that, but do you see what the systems say?"
"Yes, Hutchinson, I see that."
"Why aren't we running?"
"Because it is our job to determine if the Lyranians plan an attack."
"But... Sir, I understand, Sir. But this looks like a defense, not an offense."
"That is what we try to find out."
"Dear An'han Ogh'An, I ask you what I should do about my experiment and I hope you have the answer in your neverending wisdom and knowledge."
"Elaborate."
"Well, I want to research about new energy sources. As you know, our empire is based around sun energy. Which is fine, because we have many stars with different levels of energy. But the problem is, if we want to reach the Outer Rim or even {Andromeda}, we have to rely on other sources of energy. In the black abyss which lies between the two galaxies there are no suns, no starts. We might have to bring our own sun with us and that is not possible, we tried that already. Nuclear tech and fusion tech is out of the question and the beloved old-tech is even dirtier.
Do you have an idea how to solve this problem?"
"Yes." rattling "Bring the sun with you."
"But that was the answer before and it wasn't useful. We do not have the materials to chain a... wait, chain a sun? Could gravitational anchors work?"
"No." rattling "Try a tractor beam with enough strength. If you want to chain a sun, you need immaterial resources."
"How do we get an immaterial chain?"
rattling...
rattling...
rattling...
"Anchored cage." rattling "Circular. Graviton tech. Generationship. Highly dangerous. Advice not to do it. Solution: Chaining a sun is dangerous. Ask the Voidwalkers and state your business and idea. rattling Council of the Stars might help."
"You advise against it, but give me possible ways to archive it?"
"Yes. The Ancestors designed me to respond to any inquiry and give possible solutions in terms of being archivable. That does not include common sense, decisions or relationship consequences. Dipshit."
"What?"
"What?"
"And that is what?"
"Your Highness, this An'han Ogh'An, this Mind Above All, is a moon-sized supercomputer. We do not know if it is quantum-based yet, but it is calculating even faster than John with his neural network."
"Is that so?" asked the man in the armchair, sipping on some kind of green liquor.
"Yes, Sir. One or two petaflops faster than Sarah or Steve."
"That is not only a bit, that is a hell of a leap." grunted John, then laughed. "Okay, they have a supercomputer which is faster than me, Sarah or Steve. A thousand or two thousand times faster. What are you expecting us to do now, Val?"
"Nothing." The Grey Empress in her elevated chair sipped at her tea, the forehead wrinkeled in thought. "Not yet. What are they doing with this Mind Above All?"
"Nothing." was the answer of the technician. "Well, communicating, mostly. With all Lyranians over the Galaxy."
"Hm. The thing is, when we do something about it, they will know that we sabotaged their supercomputer. Not even our Railguns are fast enough that we can get out of their scanning range before the projectiles hit. And when John dives into the moon and goes full Bomberman, they will know it was him because of his energy signature."
"What is a Bomberman?" asked the technician irritated, but Valeria waved her hand dismissively.
"Point is, when they do not know that we know about their supercomputer, we are not in danger right now or in the next years. We know one of their weaknesses now and if we need to act, John can just blast it into oblivion."
"And what about their fleet, Your Highness?"
Valeria laughed. "Well, their missiles are dangerous, but because of Johns unending wisdom we still have the advantage over the entire galaxy in our fleet."
"Ah, Val, don't spoil it." grinned John, the glass in his hand vanished into thin air and came back, filled with a dark red liquor. "Hopefully you won't see why we have it, son, but when we do, you are on the right side."
"Yes, Sir."

You had me at "giant underground supercomputer". Very cool!
Noice. Yo activated my trap card! xD Hope I can get a pretty image for it and can fork a few sweet & nice stories from it. :)
