Hotsprings of Illagabatha

The Hotsprings of Illagabatha is a natural wonder located to the north-east of the Aleksondrièl Empire. It consists of many hotsprings, running up a hill, with the biggest one at the top. The difference in size and height creates this incredible beautiful pattern. The hotsprings overlook a lush and beautiful forest, with mountains further north, creating this picturesque panorama view.   There are many hotsprings, small ones being around 6 by 4 feet, while medium ones are up to double that size. The hotspring at the top is 150 by 150 feet, and it is surrounded by smaller ones on the east, south and west side.   The temperature of most of these hotsprings is just perfect, although the smaller ones have been known to suddenly heat up. The big one is perfect closer to the edges, with the middle of it being the source of the heat. There have been fatalities of people unable to get out of the hotspring when a sudden spike in temperature occurs.

Legend

Legend has it that the name Illagabatha was given by a Cleric. The hotspring amplified his clerical abilities and all those who bathed in the water were cured from their illnesses. The legend is often changed to mean what the person telling the story wants it to mean. Maybe illness isn't literal, but more like the dark stains on ones' soul. Or maybe the hotspring doesn't specifically amplify abilities from a cleric, but magic in general.   Devout believers taking the legend very seriously, feel like the hotsprings are a holy site and anyone using it for other means is desecrating its purity.

Usage

The Hotsprings of Illagabatha has many people flock to it for different reasons.   Adventurers and explorers visit it out of curiosity for the beautiful sights. As a natural wonder, it's almost mythical in its beauty and they simply want to experience it first hand.   For the religious, it holds the key to purification of the soul. Taking a baptism in the Hotsprings of Illagabatha is a surefire way of being forgiven any past transgrations, a clean slate, washing away all the sin.   Others believe in a more material cleansing. Taking a bath in these hotsprings can surely cure any disease of the flesh. Many have died trying to reach the hotsprings, because the forest isn't an easy road to traverse.   Some magic users are convinced the hotsprings are a place where The Weave is surely more powerful. Some use it as one of the major intersections within ley line drawings. In any case, if one needed more power to achieve a goal, they could always try to cast it at the hotsprings in the hopes that the spell or experiment would succeed there, where it had failed everywhere else.   For the rich, it is just a beautiful vacation destination to relax. They would take some guards with them, to remove any unwelcome person currently occupies the hotspring and have the privacy they deserve.
