Ardea, the Dawnmother
A stork with shining golden feathers, wreathed in flowers
Ardea the Dawnmother is one of the duotheistic creator-gods in the Amaranthine pantheon of the Humblewood setting for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition.
Counterpart to Tyton, Ardea created the world of Humblewood from formless chaos, and in particular is associated with all things relating to life, love, kindness and light, from the shining sun to flowers and the seasons of growth. She is believed to dwell during a plane of pure light and life, from which she directs celestial storks to carry out her will and act as her messengers in the mortal world. In particular, birdfolk believe these avian angels kindle life into unhatched eggs, which is the source of Ardea's second moniker.
Ardea is portrayed in in Humblewooder artwork as a great she-stork with shining golden feathers, wreathed in flowers or plant life, and often carrying a single golden feather.
