Getting around
So, how does transport works in a world with superior technology but lacking in easy, cheap, abundant, accessible, energy to back it up? Simple: Green
BUT! the picture is not as rosy as you would expect No no. the world is not as wasteful and rich in energy as it was in the late 20th century, it would be stupid to burn that precious algae bio-fuel in rolling fortresses designed to compensate for the owner's insecurities, most fuel goes to public transportation, and if there's private transportation the vehicles, those tend to be smaller simpler and more nimble.
However, there's a "car culture" one of making vehicles from the remains of old industrial and farm equipment, and modifying existing examples, with a good amount of bodgers and panel beaters, a bespoke vehicle is a symbol of status; however mas produced vheicles are still available.
What powers these vehicle can be either turbine, electric or piston engine depending on the case, batteries are often super capacitors that may explode if they get damaged. And if all of that is too much of en expense, a bicycle will do just fine, maybe with an electric motor to assist you uphill and charges up downhill.
Nations and private enterprises are funding projects to make nuclear fusion as a source of energy a reality.
sources: wind, hydroelectric, river, solar, biofuel, methane gas, muscle.
