Village Preparer

A Village Preparer, aŕénaŕœrun in Elvish, is a person who goes to far edges of the continent to determine where settlement is possible. However, they are not only responsible for determining if an area could sustain a town. Their role also encompasses categorizing flora and fauna, mapping a given area, giving reports on each location, interacting with any sentient beings who may already live there, etc.    The job was first established by elven tribes as they attempted to gather resources from within their territories and determine if other species had items they could use. As they had to be prepared to encounter resistance, the original incarnation of the aŕénaŕœrun were trained to fight before setting out.    While the combat aspect of the job has fallen away with the unification of the kingdom as there are fewer chances for sentient conflict. However, the preparers must know how to defend themselves in case of attack by wild animals.    They spend most of their time in isolation, traveling around the borders and into unsettled lands in search. Most communication is through letters or magical communications.
