A'tika Nunh
A'tika Nunh
Physical Description
Identifying Characteristics
Life as a traditional hunter allowed A’tika to become physically fit to pursue the targets of his quarry. Speed was an element considered much favored among the A, which has resulted in allowing A’tika to sprint and hold his endurance in a full run much longer than is considered average among those of his age. In a race with the taller much more lithe Elezen, they might cover more distance quickly but A’tika would outlast them, able to catch up as their energy would wane. Additionally, he learned quickly as a hunter that steady progress was more important. Tiring the target was better than getting ahead of them, or in pushing too much, losing them entirely to the burst of energy that could result once the target was obtained.
Ritual combat being the task that would encourage him to embrace the specialized training that tias receive, he learned to understand the nature of protecting territorial boundaries and presiding over a particular ground and the people that belong to it. Protection being a focus, he learned to withstand pain at higher levels, knowing where and when to strike, knowing that when the time would come to take the title of nunh, any notable weakness would be his undoing on the proving grounds.
A'tika can be considered average height among the Miqo'te. However, this has nothing of weakness now that an excellent awareness of the manipulation of wind-aspected aether can get him airborne rather quickly and out of the reach of anyone who thinks to tower over him.
Jet-black hair, a standard color of the Lominsan A, frames his face in a long free-flowing style coupled with a simple braid popular amongst travelers that frequent his place of employment
A pair of earrings decorate his large ears, traditionally a method of many tribes to designate their protective totem. To honor the Antelope, the A uses bone, silver, and any wind aspected mineral as their jewelry preference.
Additionally, he has taken to growing a bit of facial hair to frame his chin after observing the particular fashion preference among the sailors of Limsa Lominsa.
Physical quirks
- One of A'tika's most notable aspects is the long scar running across his right eye, an example of results from a life reared exclusively on hunting. It is unsure how he got it, and most people find it odd to ask about, wishing not to touch on any private matters that would have possibly been the cause. However, without asking directly, his familiarity with many people in the adventuring business has led to various rumors as to why he got the scar. The stories include simple assumptions of accidents with equipment to the extraordinary such as single hand-to-hand combat with dragons. Because nobody asks him directly, there isn't a straight answer, and A'tika has been confused before as the rumors end up preceding him before he accepts any leve. People are excited to meet him before he's ever known who they are before the job.
- A'tika both has natural blue eyes and the auspicious Miqo'te heterochromia that results in a unique golden hazel shade to his left eye. With his dark hair, this color stands out even further, making him easier to be described and sought out for tasks easily.
- A'tika employs a special red dye to highlight his natural black hair, an act of remembrance for those lost to Bahamut's fires. He always places the goal to restore his people first and foremost and makes sure that there is still something to use to remember that need, never to lose sight of the reason why he fights and takes the endless amount of requests from the locals in need of a hand for what ails them.
Mental characteristics
Education
Pre-Calamity
Born and raised under the auspices of traditional Miqo'te cultural traditions, A'tika's first and foremost education comprised the hunt's lessons unique to Seeker clans. Among the 26 that took the name from the Eorzean alphabet letters, the A tribe dedicate themselves before their exodus across the continent as the foremost experts of hunting and tracking. When he was younger, these traits first developed in the Miqo'te traditions of play, allowing their young to tangle in rough yet safe tussles with each other, to learn the means of giving one's all in an encounter. As he learned how to throw his first spear and knit his first net, herded prey used for practice gave way to wild prey. Small fish and easy targets such as puk and buzzard gave way to training himself to tackle hunts for massive pelicans or even the enormous buffalo native to the region. The speed at apprehending prey, learning to track weakness in targets by subtle signs left upon the land, and uniquely to the Lominsan tribe of A, a speed at swimming and hooking prey with unique harpoons fine-tuned over centuries of adaptation were all learned during this timeframe that A'tika could count himself as one of many.
Post-Calamity
After the fires had died out and what remained of A'tika's hunting grounds was unsalvageable, the skills he learned from the hunt became his means to join the Adventurer's Guild. Living off the land and tracking targets efficiently to eliminate their threat to the city-states was simply a step away from what he knew from how to track prey. His spearcraft unique to his ancestral upbringing stood out from the maritime nation's traditional warcraft methods, which brought him particular attention from figureheads of authority for both his style and success rate. With this notoriety, he gained passage to the mainland to eventually pursue spearcraft under the realm's foremost experts' eyes in the ancient tradition. Both the Adventurer's and Lancer's Guild would compose a large portion of his instruction after losing his family, encouraging him to expand further as opportunity would allow.
Acceptance of Halonic teachings from an Ishgardian missionary made it easier for him to gain the approval of an errant Knights Dragoon that showed him the means to take aether and empower the spear to be a battering ram against airborne enemies and anyone overpowering of that nature, further increasing his martial ability yet another notch. The only known survivor of the Lominsan A tribe that split from ancient ties made during the Fifth Umbral Era. A'tika joined the Adventurer's Guild five years after the Calamity to rebuild his lost family bereft from him by the flames of Bahamut.
