Over several centuries, branches of cultures formed from voyages from the island, establishing themselves in various ways and contributing to the formation and history of many nations on the Three Great Continents.
Described as the most imposing and heavily muscled of Hydaelyn's children, history documents stories of great Roegadyn warriors and their deeds. Their presence in many nations speaks of their remarkable maritime travel and outreach from their ancestral homeland.

History
Aerslaent: The ancestral homeland
All Roegadyn can trace an ancient connection to this region in the Northern Empty, and centuries of diffusion from this region have led them to occupy several areas of the Three Great Continents and the island chains surrounding them. Little is known of their history here, but small portions of information exist in records and texts. We learn from these that a kingdom governs Aerslaent. Limsa Lominsa's founding history described one of these eras of the reign as oppressive, which led to the decision that forced the group that would eventually become the clan known as the Sea Wolves to depart. The obsidian longboat that serves as the Lominsan coat of arms ties back to this ancient heritage of raiders from the North. Haraldr Haraldr appears as the name of a legendary king of this land who was said to have survived 57 years, only eating a species of haddock native to the Bloodbrine Sea that now shares his name.Vylbrand:
The Encyclopaedia Eorzea I mentions that the first Roegadyn immigrations to Aldenard began 400 years after the Calamity of Water though this seems to only focus on the arrival of those to Vylbrand. Roegadyn settlers sought to expand their claim on the lands further inland, led to tensions and eventual bloody conflict with the native kobolds.Common Myths and Legends
Sea Wolf:
Although rarely seen by those on the surface, giant squids appear in ancient Sea Wolf mythology as the creature which the legendary whale Bismarck fed.
