Lor and Evolere

Lor and Evolere are the two moons of Ioforis. Lor, the larger of the two, orbits further away and fully revolves around the world every 66 days. The smaller moon of Evolere makes its orbit every 21 days. Every 462 days the moons align in the sky in such a way that both of them are full simultaneously. These phenomena is most commonly referred to as Twicemoon. This event is celebrated throughout the world's cultures in a myriad of ways. 231 days later, both moons are fully in their new phase in an event known as Darksky. In contrast to Twicemoon, Darksky is usually observed through a period of somber reflection – at least in human and elven cultures. Before the arrival of their conquest by The Kingdom of Ocila and House Elwin, the Uk'orin orc tribes celebrated the arrival of the moonless night through massive ritualistic raids.

History

Five thousand years ago, the god Sevrin invaded Ioforis, backed by an army of endless demons. Using ancient and long-forgotten magic, Sevrin ripped apart the source of the Old Gods' power – the moon of Emrbiel. Against all odds, the brother and sister, Lor and Evolere mustered a defense against Sevrin's forces, sacrificing their lives in the process. As their souls entered into the Eternal Mists, the Old Gods used the last of their remaining power to raise the twins to godhood. Lor and Evolere formed two new moons, named after themselves and banished Sevrin and his forces. The Twins now reside on their respective moons keeping a watchful eye on the world to ensure that Sevrin never returns to finish his conquest. The twin moons themselves now act as the source of the New Gods' power. Should one be destroyed they other will absorb the released energy.
