Lord

The term Lord is used for a wide variety of people and ranks. It refers to lording over a stretch of land, as a vassal of a Liege Lord, usually a monarch. When a nation has a hierarchy of nobility, such as, in descending order, duke, marquess, earl, viscount and baron, the term 'lord' is usually used by the last.
