Origins
Astral Divination is one of the oldest practices of wild magic, existing from almost the very beginning of the known world. In general, it is practiced amongst the elves and the selkiefolk but it is not exclusive to these groups and history has proven that astral diviners can be human or dwarven also.
Astral Divination was first recognised as a sub-branch of the divination school of magic shortly before the great war. Previous to this it had been viewed as a less precise art than other forms of divination and was never taken as a sole prediction of the future, much to the annoyance of those who understood it's subtleties.
Purpose
Astral Divination is the art of divining the future from the movements of the stars and planets. It can be used for mundane tasks such as predicting the weather and the oceans, or larger predictions such as the future of relationships or political affairs. For a long period of history, astral divination was viewed as a gimmick, an art only used for insubstantial predictions and jokes, but then, one day, a prediction was made that changed everything...
The Greatest Prediction
A few years before The Great War, an elven women named Naomi Windswallow read the stars one night. They didn't show her much, but a great shadow lingered there; foreshadowing evil. The elders of her village brushed of her concerns as superstition but Naomi knew that the stars didn't lie. Every night the shadow grew closer, and as the years passed, the nature of the approaching evil grew ever clearer.
After the first few months, Naomi gave up with telling the village elders what she saw, they refused to believe her. She became outcast from the village and rumours began to spread. Some said that she was mad, and others looked on her with pity, but they all had one thing in common: none of them would hear the truth. Then the Dwarves arrived...
