An Obvious Trap
Sometime during the year of 9407 (to be specified later)
So anyway here we where on the second floor of some sort of dungeon we found under the Trispire Square, where the Chaos Theatre was supposed to be setting up. After Vicky, Halrar and I got spilt up from Jim and Bart, from some shenanigans with metal bars falling from the celling, each group fighting off one Machinal Fighter and one Machinal Rolley Boy each before we immediately met back up with each other, though it felt like 3 weeks. On this floor was a staircase to head further down and a room guarded by bear traps, using my cunning I disabled the bear traps using my Mage Hand :D
In this room we found four dead bodies... or skeletons... or whatever... One was a Dragonborn, a Human, a Halfing we could tell cause it was short and either an Elf or Human couldn't really tell. On them collectively was some shitty weapons and around 217 Ancient Drakkanian gold coins. I wonder how much these will be worth The Elf/ Human also had a Symbol of Dorn on them whether thats important or not we'll never know probably not.
Heading back towards the stairway heading down the group Vicky, Jim and Bart were at odds at what to do, Bart rightly pointing out that something wasn't right suggesting we head back and get help, Jim and Vicky saying that leaving would be irresponsible. I said that I could contact someone if they needed me to but was promptly ignored Bart sent Scabbers poor guy down the stairway while looking through his eyes, he saw Purity later we figure out it was an illusion stepping through some sort of portal, basically convincing Vicky and Jim to head down. even though at this point we knew it was a trap... or at least me and Bart did As we headed down the stairs Bart proceeded to send Scabbers poor guy through the portal... Which then an Angel Angelic like creature came from, the "Angel" looked fake and unnatural with the old symbol of Stryx on its forehead, it saying "Those that step here, do not tread any further". Vicky after hitt striking it revealed some gears on the inside of this creature, so it wasn't an Angel?... Can a construct be Celestial? I duuno Though it wasn't immune to poison... so maybe it was part organic?
Vicky coming in clutch again striking the Angel, though this time all of those false organic parts fell off of it... revealing this fucking sick looking machinal body, its wings becoming these two quite cute minions, there only purpose to shoot lightning between them... or the only purpose we saw.
Just as the fight looked to be going south, both me and Vicky went down, Purity showed up with four other people with a marking either on their face or mask of a crimson hand with four fingers, Vicky look quite similar to the four people I think he called them... "Family", White Hair and Crimson Red eyes... Also he seemed to know her parents curious. With his arrival he brought Vicky back up with a heal, my question is "why" he had no need to. Bart brought me back up with a healing potion bae. We managed to take the "Angel" down, learning afterwards from Purity that it was a Guardian of Stryx and that the portal was a Gateway to the Underworld why is it under Djaal?. Purity said that he came for something from within the Creature and after I did some digging through it I found another Shard of Divinity, he said that he was told he could pay us off for it or that he could just take it. Seeing the state of the party and seeing that the others weren't getting anywhere with their questions I decided to hand it over in exchange for four sacks of 500gp, he also handed me a Sending Stone with 7 charges to contact him with, not sure why yet but I probably find out soon. He said he couldn't or wouldn't tell us why he or who he works for wants them and that the Dopplegangers are trying to stop them from collecting them I'm assuming because the Shards can do amazing things if you gather enough, like rewriting reality or so he told us.
Whats getting me is why did Purity save Vicky? For his task he had no need to...
Not knowing whats going on is frustrating so I think my next thing to do is to find the Dopplegangers and ask them what they are doing and why, but also Markus and have a solo chat with him since the party Jim and Vicky are quite hostile and we won't get anywhere if they're around.
To find the Dopplegangers I'm going I'm on my way to visit some friends I know that keep their ear to the ground... it's important for the line of work to know whats going on, to see if they know where I may find the Dopplegangers
