Coming Up With Your Character
Where are you from?
Your character has been in Icewind Dale for at least two years. There are two options, you can be either a native to Icewind Dale or someone from outside of Icewind Dale who came for whatever reason before Auril's winter began.
A character secret is randomly assigned before the campaign begins. There is one list of potential secrets for natives, and one for foreigners. (Re-rolls will be allowed). These have the potential to come into play later in the campaign and you are free to tell others your secret if your character would do so.
What is your background?
Standard background options from rule books are allowed, however at the start of the campaign, your character is broke. Earning money and resource management is an important part of this campaign, so each character will only start with 10 gold.
What is your race?
The Forgotten Realms campaign setting is very cosmopolitan, and all races listed in rule books are allowed, however in my personal interpretation of this campaign setting, humans are the overwhelming majority of the population with more common other races like elves and dwarves being the largest majority. The more well known like tieflings are not so uncommon that people would stop and stare at one passing down the street, but something like an aarakocra (bird people race) are so rare, many people think of them as myths.
Who do you know?
Whether as a native or a foreigner, you have made some friends in Icewind Dale. Create an NPC that the DM can use in the campaign.
What is your favorite place in Icewind Dale?
Whether that is a favorite bar, a vendor that sells a sweet that you love, or a beautiful mountain peak, there is something you have fallen in love with in Icewind Dale. Create a spot so the DM can use it in the story.
