Session 3 Notes

General Summary

With the battle just freshly over and a young scared guard trembling while shouting the order for the party to drop there weapons and come with him. Not wanting to continue working there way through Bremen's guards, they follow the guards instructions. Shortly after another pair of guards come to the scene and help to escort the party to the Town Hall.   As they enter the Town Hall and Speaker Dorbulgruf Shalescar enters, a very angry Torrga Icevein barges in demanding the party's heads. Torrga defends Sephek by recounting his honorable actions with with the Traveling Emporium over the last 4 months. Hearing enough, Speaker Dorbulgruf requests the services of the Priestess. Shortly an elderly human female comes in with an Acolyte helping her. Speaker Dorbulgruf welcomes Priestess Cleo and asks for her assistance in determining the truth. Priestess Cleo cast Zone of Truth in the area and it is reviled that Sephek was working for the Frostmaiden and was the murderer of not only the guard, but three individuals in other towns across the Ten Towns. With this Torrga walked out silent and mumbling something while looking at the party. As for the death of Grynsk Berylbore, Zackarias took sole blame through his testimony while omitting certain facts. With this, Zackarias was sentenced to work the docks as the new dockmaster and he was stripped of his gear and chained to the docks.   After the trial, the three party members return to the Buried Treasures inn to regroup. While in the inn, the group starts talking with Tali, a half elf female, who approaches the party and says that she is a researcher who traveled to the Ten Towns to study the effects on nature due to the climate change. She offers the party 5 gp to discover what they can about the supposed monster and document their findings. The group of three accepts.   The party decides to rest for the night after their long day. Once they awake, they talk to a flamboyant but still nondescript human who introduces himself as "The Famous Felazel!" After a short conversation, the group decides to invite Felazel with them to determine what they can about the monster.   As the party approaches the docks, they find their old traveling companion working the docks and getting the boats ready. Zacharias provides the party with two boats, and off the party goes to chase sea monsters.   The first part of their fishing and monster hunting trip was relative boring. These few hours resulted in a few chance encounters with other fishing vessels and a decent haul of 32 trout. As the last trout was landing on the boat, Eliliana saw a dark shadow swim under the boats. Shortly after the group is face to face with the lake monster. Both boats get attached as the monster attempts to either sink the boats or knock the people off and into the water.   One of the monster's attacks and Eliliana managed to get a solid hit and the monster made an unusual noise. Deducing something off, Eliliana attempted to communicate with the monster by yelling at the water while the monster was submerged. Then the monster cautiously came to the surface and started talking in common to the party. During the conversation, it was discovered that a druid casted an awaken spell on the plesiosaurus and instructed the beast to stop the fishing in the lake. Not wanting to return to a stupid beast, the beast did as it was instructed. However, Felazel was able to tell the beast the awaken spell was permanent and the beast did not have to follow the druid's instructions. Happy to hear this, the monster said it would stop.   Eliliana asked the beast its name, but it said it did not have one. She asked if it would like one, and after the beast said, "yes," she asked if it liked the name Nessie. Accepting this new name, Nessie told the party where some of the best fishing spots were located on the lake and swam off.   Rowing back to town, the group gets paid for their haul, a total if 160 cp, and they proceed to tell the story about Nessie. Tali is very glad to hear this and is overjoyed to get the detailed notes of Nessie. She quickly pays the party the 5 gp they earned and includes a spell scroll she has of animal friendship.   After a long day on the water, the group returns to the inn and enjoys a meal of trout stew. During the meal, it is discovered that Cora's son, Huarwar, was stranded in the frozen lands, and did luckly return; however, he returned with frost bite on his hands and feet and he find a strange black shard that he would not let go of. Over the news few days a Huarwar started displaying very uncharasteric emotions.   The next day, two tieflings (a male and a female) arrived at the inn and offered Huarwar sanctuary in their castle. He left with them willingly, taking the shard with him and telling his mother that he would never return. The tieflings wore amulets that looked much like the shard in Huarwar’s possession. Cora misses her son terribly and she hopes he is still alive. She recalls that one of the tieflings mentioned a castle, and she knows that there are only two castles in Ten-Towns: an intact one in Caer-Dineval and a ruined one in Caer-Konig.   As the day ended, the party decided to enjoy Cora's hospitality once more and stayed the night.
